What are the Pre-Care Instructions?
- Prior to treatment, it is best not to take anything that thins the blood, such as Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Vitamin E or alcohol.
- Avoid sun exposure in order to avoid sunburn.
- You should avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or using hair removal cream on the treated area.
- For 72 hours before treatment, refrain from using Alpha Hydroxy Acids above 10% and Retinoids (such as Retin A).
- It is likely that you may still have some muscle movement. Rather than paralyzing the muscles, the treatment aims to improve the lines’ appearance. This will allow you to maintain subtle facial expressions.
What are the Post-Care Instructions?
- Don’t lay down for 4 hours.
- Don’t rub or massage the treated area(s).
- Don’t use a sauna.
- No working out on the day of treatment.
- No yoga, strenuous exercise, or heavy lifting.
- After injections, do not get a facial, laser, microdermabrasion, or chemical peel for 14 days.
- Stay out of the sun until redness or swelling has diminished.
- If you have had injections between the brows or in the forehead, avoid headbands or hats.
- Bruising and swelling can be reduced with a cold pack or gel. However, avoid pressure for several days.
- Masseter specific: Don’t chew gum for at least two weeks
- Be patient.
